Clinical evaluation and antibacterial activity of Enoxacin (Flumark^(¢ç)) in E.N.T. field infection

Abstract
Enoxacin {Flumark¢ç), a new synthetic antibacterial agent, was administrated orally to E.N.T. patients. The dosage was 600mg in divided taken three times daily for 7 to 14 days.
It was shown that this new agent possessed a broad antimicrobial spectrum covering gram-positive and gram-negative bacteria.
The following results were obtained.
1. The mean duration of therapy was 11.1 days.
2. The clinical efficacy of therapy was remarkably excellent in 6 cases, good in 13 cases, fair in 5 cases. ( 77.4%)
3. In vitro, Enoxacin was bacteriologically effective in all strains, except a-hemolytic streptococcus and S. pneumonia.
4. The side effects were nausea, headache, indigestion in 3 of 31 cases ( 9.7%).
5. There were no significant changes of laboratory findings except W.B.C. decrease 1 case after administrated of Enoxacin, but W.B.C. were normal after 2 weeks.
